Buffalo Trace Distillery was established as a O.F.C. distillery back in 1870 by Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. and it was the most state-of-the-art distillery of its era. Even though its initials stand for Old Fashioned copper, it was an innovative distillery that was the first to use a special steam heating system, still used in the distillery\u2019s aging warehouses today. The Vintages is a tribute to the distillery\u2019s beginnings, and each bottle looks and tastes the part. Distilled back in 1996, The O.F.C. Vintage 1996 is a full-bodied liquid with the most complex flavor imaginable, exhibiting notes of caramel, cherry, and slightly-smoked oak with a long and lingering finish. The trail was well-known among Native Americans and was eventually used by pioneering settlers who crossed the Ohio River and followed the buffalo trace to the Western frontier.<\/p>\n<p>Buffalo Trace Distillery is the oldest continually operating distillery in the United States and includes the rich legacies of master distillers such as E.H. Taylor, Jr,  George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee.
