    About James E. Pepper

Elijah Pepper began distilling whiskey at the dawn of the American Revolution and during the War of 1812, he built the first log cabin distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. Eventually, he passed the family business on to his son, Oscar, and then on to his grandson, James E. Pepper.

Colonel James E. Pepper was one of Kentucky’s first Bourbon aristocrats — he raced thoroughbreds in the Kentucky Derby, traveled in a private rail car and made famous the Old Fashioned cocktail. “Pepper Whisky is an old fashioned whisky, made in the old time way from a formula used for more than 100 years by three generations of the Pepper family,” wrote James, in an advertisement dated August 22, 1887. “We claim not only to make the oldest but absolutely the purest and best brand of whisky made in America, and we invite comparison with any whisky of any age.”

In 1958, after the whiskey industry fell on hard times, the James E. Pepper Distillery was forced to close its doors. During its tenure, Pepper Whiskey, or “Old 1776 Whiskey” as it became known as, was a favorite of Presidents Andrew Jackson and Ulysses S. Grant, and was preferred by Daniel Webster, a leading American statesman and senator from Massachusetts.

Today the re-launched brand is back in full force. “We did extensive research and spent years collecting and analyzing full, preserved bottles of original Pepper Whiskey,” says Amir Peay. They even acquired a letter written by Pepper himself, detailing the exact mash bill and recipe used to create Old 1776. “We wanted to pay homage to Pepper’s legacy and do our best to recreate the original Pepper Whiskey — something that was part of American history,” he says.

High West 21 Year Old Rocky Mountain Rye Whiskey

    $922.50 Availability: In Stock

About High West 21 Year Old Rocky Mountain Rye Whiskey

High West Rocky Mountain Rye 21 Year Old isn’t technically rye whiskey since it wasn’t aged in new, but rather refill barrels. But it is whiskey distilled from rye. It’s also incredibly rare for an American whiskey to reach such age. The thing is, this impressive spirit is almost extinct, so finding a bottle is almost Ethan Hunt’s level of impossible. Its character is sweet, hot, and spicy. Pretty spectacular stuff.

Don’t miss the opportunity to own this wonder!

    About High West

Situated at the bottom of the Quitting Time Ski Run in Park City, High West Distillery & Saloon is the first distillery in Utah since Prohibition and the only ski-in gastro-distillery in the world. “We wanted to call High West a “saloon,” says David Perkins, High West’s founder, “because we wanted to pay homage to the history of saloons in the old West and the important role they played in each and every town that had one. The saloon was the main meeting place where town hall was held, important announcements were made, and people went to eat and drink. We want people to share that sense of community and friendship over High West.”

    About Old Carter

Founded by husband and wife Mark and Sherri Carter, Old Carter Whiskey Co. is focused on bringing super high-quality and unique small-batch straight rye and bourbon whiskeys to discerning drinkers. The couple started in the wine business, producing fine wine in the Napa Valley. The Carter Cellars Cabernets have garnered numerous awards and has led them towards whiskey.

Their whiskey journey started when they joined a friend from Kentucky in resurrecting the long-absent Kentucky Owl bourbon brand. By the time the brand was sold in 2017, the couple had grown too fond of the spirit to simply let go, diving straight into sourcing, producing, and blending whiskey in Kentucky. It’s a true hands-on family operation that enables them to cultivate their passionate love for whiskey and share it with the world.

Jack Daniel’s Rested Straight Rye Whiskey

    $202.50 Availability: In Stock

About Jack Daniel’s Rested Straight Rye Whiskey

Jack Daniel Distillery Rested Tennessee Rye Whiskey is crafted from a batch of 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley (this mashbill is the first new mashbill used at the Jack Daniel Distillery Distillery in over a century). Once the ingredients have been mashed, they are fermented with a proprietary strain of yeast and iron-free cave spring water. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled and the resulting whiskey is then filtered through 10 feet of charcoal. This filtering process, known as the Lincoln County Process, earns the whiskey the title of “Tennessee Whiskey”and imparts a signature, sweet yet smoky flavor profile.

Once the whiskey has been charcoal filtered, it is matured for two years in American oak casks. “We felt like we should offer our friends another limited-quantity rye expression that’s still handcrafted with the same passion and quality they expect from all of our products,” says Jeff Arnett, the master distiller at Jack Daniel Distillery Distillery. “And we hope they’ll remember that, as good as this new offering is ““ it’s still just a taste of what’s to come.”

Jack Daniel Distillery Rested Tennessee Rye Whiskey has an aroma of caramel, vanilla, nougat and spicy oak that gives way to bold notes of cherries, citrus and rye on the palate. The finish is dark and inviting, with touches of honey, wood, clove and black pepper.

    About Jack Daniel’s

Born on September 5, 1850, Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel was the youngest of ten children. His parents were of Scottish and Irish descent. In 1864, Jack learned the art of whiskey-making from a preacher and an enslaved man named Nathan “Nearest” Green, who eventually became Jack Daniel Distillery’s head distiller. Daniel’s distillery —founded in Lynchburg, Tennessee, in 1866— was the first registered distillery in the country (at the time, distilleries were required to register with the federal government, and the Jack Daniel Distillery was given Registered Distillery Number 1). Today, Jack Daniel Distillery is one of the most distinguished and recognizable names in the spirits industry.

    About Kentucky Owl

Kentucky Owl was founded by Charles Mortimer Dedman, a local pharmacist, in 1879. After marrying his wife, Dedman was given a large parcel of land on the banks of the Kentucky River, as a wedding gift from his adopted father who was a local town judge. C.M. Dedman Distillery was established here on the banks of the Kentucky River, producing “The Wise Man’s Bourbon” under Distilled Spirits Plant Designation “No. 16”, one of Kentucky’s original distilleries and part of a booming industry.

Kentucky Owl achieved much success and production continued until Prohibition halted distillation. The family-run facility was no match for the “forces of teetotalism, temperance and eventually, the Feds”. In 1916, Prohibition left several local distilleries with ample reserves of bourbon. As for Kentucky Owl, approximately 250,000 gallons of bourbon were left over in various stages of aging. Today these reserves would be worth about $40 million in inventory. After Federal agents descended on the Dedman’s distillery, the bourbon was seized and shipped up the river by barge to the state capital in Frankfort for “safekeeping” in a warehouse.

Currently, Kentucky Owl is in the midst of designing a stunning state-of-the-art distillery park with rickhouses for aging, a bottling center, as well as a vintage dinner train to stop on th e property. It will be built at Cedar Creek Quarry in Bardstown. The 420-acre site will boast beautiful lakes with crystal clear, limestone-filtered water that will be used in their whiskey production.
